While working as a wedding photographer in Chicago IL, I have had the opportunity to see many luxurious venues. When it comes to the best view, no location that stands out as much as The Signature Room at the 95th.
A top Chicago restaurant that specializes in private events, is perched near the top of 875 North Michigan Avenue. It was formerly known as the John Hancock Center. A wedding reception near the top of one of Chicago’s tallest buildings provides a stunning setting. Complete with sunsets and twinkling city lights below as you dance into the night.
Brief History of The Signature Room at the 95th
The Signature Room was launched under current management in the summer of 1993. In the thirty years since, it has become one of the most stunning spots for cuisine in the Windy City as well as a favorite for wedding receptions. The location also makes it easy to capture some of the most stunning wedding photography in Chicago.
The success of this restaurant is easy to see in its history of awards. It has won the Wine Spectator Restaurant Award of Excellence an impressive 22 times over the years. It was named 1996 Restaurant of the Year by Food and Beverage Equipment Executives. Starting in 1997 Gourmet Magazine voted it as one of “America’s Top Tables” annually. Within the Chicago area, it has won frequent awards for its views and romantic setting.

What truly draws people to The Signature Room at the 95th is its expansive view adorned with floor to ceiling windows. From its perch high atop the Chicago skyline, guests can see beautiful views of Lake Michigan and the sprawling city. It is perhaps the best view in the entire city and one that is sure to please any wedding guest.
While the view is certainly a stunning backdrop for top Chicago wedding photographers, another thing that draws brides and grooms to this location is the fare. The location is well known for its seafood creations as well as its innovative cocktails. A reception at this location includes a gourmet four course meal prepared by the venue’s chefs.
Accommodations for Ceremonies and Receptions
One of the best things about The Signature Room is the ability to create a variety of setups for a wedding reception. This helps guests to socialize while taking in the expansive views. There are three major options in terms of accommodation.
Chicago Room
The Chicago Room faces the southwest skyline, providing ample views of the city sprawling beneath. This space can hold up to 75 seated guests. Top Chicago wedding photographers love having the Chicago Room’s backdrop for stunning photos.
Lake Shore Room
As the name would suggest, the Lake Shore Room faces Lake Michigan. This northwest view provides guests with a beautiful vista. Particularly during sunset hours that make for some of the best wedding photography in Chicago. This space can also hold up to 75 guests.
Entire 95th Floor
For larger receptions or for those who cannot decide between lakeside and city views, there is the option to rent the entire floor. Those reserving the entire Signature Room can host up to 150 guests seated.
The Signature Room Wedding Cost
There is no cost to rent The Signature Room at the 95th; however, there is a food and beverage minimum for events. The primary driver of the cost is the two entrée options selected for the dinner. Entrée costs range from $165 per person for the seasonal vegetable presentation to $255 per person for the surf and turf. The cost does not include bartender staffing fees, taxes, or gratuity. However, it does include passed hors d’oeuvres, a four course dinner, dinner wine service, basic décor including flowers, a wedding cake from Alliance Bakery, and several other features. In total, the price for 50 guests starts at $14,586.
