Many couples dream of a beautiful beach wedding. You may think that you need to journey to Hawaii, the Yucatan, Saint Lucia, or somewhere similarly tropical to make this dream a reality. However, you can have a Rosewood beach wedding with beautiful views right here in the Chicago area.
Rosewood Beach lies just north of Chicago in the suburb of Highland Park. Managed by the city’s Park District, it provides a great way to have a beach wedding on a budget, particularly on warm summer days. This venue also provides lots of inspiration for your wedding photographer in Chicago to help create great memories of the special occasion.
The Rosewood Beach property was donated to the city of Highland Park in 1928 by Julius Rosenwald, who served as the chairman of Sears Roebuck Co. His children later donated funds for the construction of a beach house. In the years since, Rosewood Beach has been a favorite swimming and relaxation spot for local residents. Unfortunately, renovations were needed due to the declining nature of the beach house and the erosion of the beach.
The community created a Lakefront Master Plan that revitalized Rosewood Beach with construction occurring from 2013 to 2015. The new Rosewood Beach opened in June 2015, showcasing a design that encourages environmental stewardship. Aside from the beach, the highlights include a 1,500 foot boardwalk and Interpretive Center that overlooks the area’s nature cove.
There are a number of noteworthy features at Rosewood Beach. From sandy dunes to wooded bluffs, the area provides a respite for those seeking to escape into nature without leaving the city. The area also includes a carefully designed nature cover. The overarching environment provides many creative photo ideas for wedding photographers in Illinois.
While the beach and environment make a great backdrop, the Interpretive Center is at the heart of your Rosewood Beach reception. This state-of-the-art facility features glass walls that provide 180 degree panoramic views of the beach and lakefront.
The accommodations at Rosewood Beach are fairly easy to work with as the venue has a dedicated space for a reception as well as an accompanying space that would be perfect for a ceremony if desired.
Nature Beach Cove
For those wanting to have your ceremony at Rosewood Beach, Nature Beach Cove is the perfect place for a beachfront wedding. This sandy cove has a beautiful view that will make the perfect backdrop that any wedding photographer in Illinois would love. Exchange your vows beside Lake Michigan at this intimate location.
Interpretive Center
The Interpretive Center is the space for a Rosewood Beach wedding reception. This space can be easily customized and can hold up to 50 people. The space also comes with the use of the surrounding deck. This is a great space for those wanting to do DIY wedding décor. You will also have an attendant available at all times for assistance.
In addition to being a beautiful location for a beach wedding, Rosewood Beach also serves as a perfect choice for cost conscious weddings or those who want to splurge a bit more on other aspects such as the dress or food. During the summer months, the rental fee is $605 for two hours with additional hours available at $302.50. During the rest of the year, the cost is $490 for two hours and $245 for each additional hour. Discounted rates are available for residents of Highland Park. The space can be reserved until 10 p.m.
